a.k.a. Emergency Parking Brake Cable Adjuster, Parking Brake Cable Balancer, Brake Cable Equalizer, Brake Cable Stretcher Assembly.
This Parking Brake Cable Tensioner Assembly is designed to securely connect the front brake cable to the two rear brake cables on the rear differential. It is engineered to equalize and balance the braking force to both of the rear brakes by effectively taking up the excess slack in all three brake cables. This assembly is an AUTHENTIC MOPAR PART constructed from high-quality materials for long-lasting service, and fits the following vehicles:

Good Afternoon L__, I wanted to thank you for the park brake tensioner I received from you. I was hoping to be able to let people know that this is a great product which solved an issue my son had with a
1988 Ford F150
that has a suspension lift as well as a 3” to 4” body lift
. The previous owner didn’t realize that tons of stock stuff isn’t going to fit anymore when it gets body lifted so they just left the park brake disconnected on it and there was a huge gap between the ends of the cables they left disconnected… I bought this tensioner solely based on your picture which looked like it was going to work for what we needed haha…
Needless to say, it worked great, fits awesome and the park brake works as good as new!
I was hoping to advise some folks that this may be a good option for them as well if they’re faced with similar issues on their rigs.

Great product. Took a gamble and it fit my grand cherokee perfect. Its a
93 jeep grand cherokee
with a straight 6 motor. 4 wheel drive but also a manual transmission that was swapped out of a cherokee. Thats why i needed the part so desperately. Ive worked on and seen jeeps newer than mine with the same ebrake setup. The part was the exact same as my old one i took out just not rusted nor stripped.

Slightly different length but no problem. They should not call this an adjuster because when I needed to adjust it, it was rusted solid hence the replacement purchase. I'll keep your contact info as you can see I'm trying to keep a 22 year old jeep alive.
It's a
1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
. The difference in length of that part is the rod that is bent around the rivet pin. It has no affect of the operation of the assembly. Wish I didn't have to buy the Part but glad the Part was available.

…I ordered (jeep Parking Brake Cable Tensioner) it was a perfect fit. Although, I had to use my old equalizer (fortunately I checked it prior to ordering), after reading the feed backs from people who improvised & made it work. My Jeep Cherokee Sports' Equalizer measures 2" inches across, roughly 1" inch less than the new equalizer included with the part ordered. THANK'S to all for your feedback. Thanks for showing images & a rule to scale the part as this gave me more confidence in ordering.

I am doing this too, using my old equalizer bracket. Removed the rust & 2 coats of rustoleum!! Here's before and after pics of the assembly installed. It looks a little out of whack because the top cable wasn't properly seated in the E bracket when I tested the brake before my final adjustment. Again, I hope this helps the other Cherokee owners out there! Thanks for posting this!! I wouldn't have thought to do that without this post!

One piece (Equalizer Bracket) of the item you sent me would not fit my Jeep. It is larger than the original and would not fit into the recess (Tensioner Housing). I was able to reuse the old part (Equalizer Bracket) combined with the remaining parts of the assembly you sent so the job is done and I have parking brake again. Just thought you'd like to know

. It was a close fit but the rear part was too large to fit into the housing mounted to the jeep. I just reused the part that fit the rear parking cables and the new tensioner and the front part of the cable fit fine.

Hey L____, Okay, my understanding of how you made the new Tensioner work on your
2001 Cherokee Sport XJ
, was to re-use your old Equalizer Bracket. As we both know, the Equalizer Bracket connects both of the rear brake cables to the threaded rod which has an adjustment nut on the end of it. The front of the new Tensioner has a single Cup which connects the front brake cable to the Tensioner rod. So, is my understanding of your modification correct?
